The next full moon will occur on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 1: 36 p.m. Mst (0426 Dec. 19 GMT), but the moon will appear full the night before and after its peak to the casual stargazer. The December full moon is also known as the Cold Moon.
Our last full moon for the year, we are closing out a cycle with this full moon. It is on the axis of Gemini and Sagittarius, moon in Gemini at this time. It brings intense energy with it. As the Gemini moon sets on the Fixed Star Betelgeuse, this is the star of power and worldly success it amplifies talents and abilities.
Mars in Sagittarius, the sign of the Archer, will bring fiery action. It will be a busy weekend with communication, writing or shopping. Gemini has a love of many plates spinning in the air. Don’t let yourself become frazzled or overwhelmed with all the busyness. Talk time to connect with people you love and open the flow of connection. Great time to tell stories from the past, Sagittarius is the storyteller, and Mars is just passing the south node look for the wisdom in your words and choices.
Venus’ retrogrades starts on Dec 19th six hours after the full moon. This retrograde is less frequent (once in about 17-18 months) but much longer (about 42 days). She will be in retro from Dec 19th until January 29, from 26 -11 Capricorn. She is very strongly accompanied on some of her backwards journey by conjunctions to Pluto (December 21-30) and Mercury (December 27-30). These connections take place more or less in the latter degrees of the cardinal signs, so if you have any strong placements in your natal chart between 23 to 28 of Aries, Libra, Cancer, and (especially) Capricorn, this set of transiting conjunctions will speak loudly to you.
So, Venus, Pluto and Mercury are dancing together as we move into a new year and shut the door on this one. It will be a tango!
So, Venus the beautiful planet of love, money, self-esteem or what we are passionate about in connection with Pluto, some hard looks at all relationships, should they stay or should go, Pluto can inspire us to a better wisdom of knowing when to let go. So, the question will be about who supports you and who doesn’t. Pluto is the transformation planet and mercury is talking, writing, or teaching. Could be some hard lessons about money now for the world, for our country, on a personal level, and relationships. Pluto with Venus is helping us emerge from the cocoon and go through that alchemical transformation to open to a true self.

The full moon partial lunar eclipse in Taurus on November 19 will blow open the family tombs, exposing hidden or suppressed histories of gaslighting, control, and self-sublimation. How long have you downplayed your value? Who has taught you to compromise? This is but the first of several eclipses on the Taurus-Scorpio divide, raging through 2023. Everything is up for renegotiations!
The eclipse will darken the moon for much of the globe on November 19, 2021 (overnight on November 18 for North America). Most locations will see up to 97% of the moon slip into Earth’s shadow. North America has the best location to see the entirety of the eclipse.
